What's a URL?
Not the liquid you put in your engine or on hinges to keep them lubricated, but instead stands for Uniform Resource Locator, or in more simple terms, it's your web address. It is also the address used to locate files or other resources on the Internet.

What's are cookies?
Sounds yummy doesn't it, but these aren't the edible kind. Cookies are small pieces of text stored on a user's computer by their web browser. They remember visited sites and, if you've chosen, your passwords. Different settings can be implemented for the use of cookies, from keeping them active until the end of a user's session, or by the user's request.

What's a Home Page?
This is the main page of your website, the page that is typically landed on when a user enters your URL (web address) in their browser, and on most website where you will be directed when clicking the "Home" button.
What's a Browser?
Browser or Web Browser are the applications you use to access the internet to display web pages. Popular browsers include Microsoft Internet Explorer and Firefox. Others include Safari and Chrome.



What's a Bookmark?
Just like a bookmark you'd use in a published book, a web browser bookmark allows you to "mark" URLs of interest so that you can easily revisit them in the future.
What is HTML?
Standing for Hyper Text Markup Language, HTML is the primary authoring language of web pages. There are other languages of coding we utilize in the creation of websites. They include PHP, Javascript, XHTML, and CSS styling.
What's a File Format?
Each type of file, whether it be a document, image, or web page is a type of file. Typically the file format will appear at the end of the file's name. An example would be that most Microsoft Word documents end with ".doc", this is that programs specific file format. Images uses on the internet are generally .jpg, .jpeg, .gif, or .png; while the pages that build a website are normally .html file formats.
What is SEO?
Search Engine Optimization or SEO, is the process of applying ethical techniques to a website, it's images and links, to improve the site's organic rankings within a search engine such as Google, Yahoo! or Bing.

What are Organic Rankings?
Organic Rankings are those which appear on the left side of a search results window. Not sponsored, or pay-per-click which general will appear on the right side, or in a special "Sponsored Links" area of the search results window.
What are Search Engines?
Search engines, as applied to the internet, are where a user can search for information on the internet. They include Google, Yahoo, and Bing as well as many other major and minor engines.
