Summer Reading Program Activities for Young Adults

Express Yourself! Young Adult Programs

These fun programs offer you, our young adult patron, a glimpse of what libraries can offer you and in the future as well as broaden your cultural horizons.

Week 1 – Now You See It (Visual Arts)

Tuesday, July 7th @ 3:00
We invite everyone to decorate a letter from our slogan, “Imagine, Create, Participate!”. All letters will be strung together to act as a banner to display for the entire duration of the Summer Reading Program.

Learn the technique of Pointillism made famous by Seurat as each YA creates their own rendition of a famous painting using this approach. The completed artwork will be on display during the Family Art Show on July 24th. After the event, the masterpiece is yours to take home.

Week 2 – Now You See It (Visual Arts)

YA add their creative touch to our Community Mural. The completed mural painted by children, youth and young adults will be on display during the Family Art Show.

We’ll also continue working on the pointillism project.

Week 3 – Now You See It (Visual Arts)

Tuesday, July 21st @ 3:00
Last chance to add the final details to their pointillism project before putting it on display!

Week 8 – Free Play

Oh, the things you can make with duct tape! Learn the art of Ductigami as well as Towel Origami. Please bring your own bath and hand towels.
