Wind…money…fish. What do these three things have in common? They’re all prior Story Time themes. Each week Summer, our Youth Services Coordinator, chooses a kid-friendly theme, reads a few books aloud to the group, gathers the children and adults to complete a related craft and serves a snack.
During the summer, Story Time is merged with the Read 2 Me Summer Reading Program. Both programs are open to everyone; however, all summer Story Time participants are asked to register for the Summer Reading Program.
This program is for pre-readers or very early readers. Read 2 Me programs introduce the “summer reading” concept to young children by enabling the child to participate in the game element of the program. During each session books are read aloud to the group to increase literacy and foster a relationship with the library that will grow as they do. Children can record the books on their game card just as the older kids do to qualify for weekly prizes.
