Group Counseling
The interpersonal relationship group consists of one and a half hour weekly meetings involving 2-5 individuals who are helping one another apply new skills to everyday life. The group is ideal for those who are struggling to cope with interpersonal relationships involving a significant other, co-worker, family member, friend, or other.
Examples of skills which will be taught and facilitated are
- how to interact more effectively with others
- Understanding emotions
- old vs. new coping skills.
- Enhancement of communication skills such as active listening and fair fighting.
Examples of new coping skills include:
mindfulness- which is the ability to live in the present moment, understanding anger as a secondary emotion, and practicing acceptance.
Group members are required to attend individual session(s) first to complete an assessment and appropriateness for group therapy.
